Ahmedabad to have SBI Self-service branch before fiscal end

The State Bank of India (SBI) is planning to open a state-of-art paper-less 24x7 branch in Ahmedabad by the end of this fiscal, according to the SBI Gujarat Circle Chief General Manager P Nanda Kumaran. The branch will be opened at a non-banked areas of the city. Another similar branch is planned at Vadodra.
The Self Service Branch will be equipped with automated machines which take care of a some routine tasks, such as cash deposit, withdrawal, remittances, passbook updates and statements. Its Green Channel Counter (GCC) will be offered in 35 branches to begin with.
Also on cards is the opening of 50 branches in Gujarat taking the number of SBI branches to 1200. At the same time, 225 ATMs will be added taking the ATM count to about 1525.
The bank has decided to replace the enveloped-based cash deposit system with automatic direct cash deposit machines in 7 locations in Gujarat.
The bank is expanding its portfolio advisory services via the SBI Sunrise banner and is targeting High Net worth Individuals (HNIs). Financial planning and wealth management centres will be opened at Ahmedabad, Rajkot, Vadodara and Surat for the purpose.
