About Banking in Oman

The Central Bank of Oman is the central bank of the country. Commercial banks earned a higher profit of RO 264 million in 2011 compared to RO 248 million in 2010. The gross non-performing loans, net of reserve interest, at the end of 2011 stood lower at 2.5 percent of total credit compared to 2.9 percent a year ago.

Oman stands at #21 position with a score of 6.0 in terms of Soundness of Banks according to WEF Global Competitiveness Report 2012-13.
